Preteens Kids Lead Team - Program Description
At VR Kids, we believe kids have an important and welcome position in ministry. We also believe it’s our role to equip kids and create opportunities for them to use their unique gifts as they learn to become church leaders.

Who Can Register?
Any kid who is a regular church attendee and will be in either the 4th or 5th grade during the 2025-2026 school year can register.

Kids Lead 2025-2026
Fall 2025 Season starts on 8/03/2025 and ends on 8/02/2026.

Schedule
Each preteen will be scheduled to lead in Kids Worship at least once a month throughout the school year.

Assignments
All preteens registered to participate in Kids Lead will receive assignments according to their interests and talents to lead in Kids Worship. There are many positions where your kids can serve:

Worship Team: lead worship time on stage by reading songs’ intro lines, singing, and leading the song’s hand motions. This position will develop public speaking skills, stage presence, and self-confidence.

Welcoming Guests: intentional about being friendly, learn the first-time guests’ names and repeatedly call them by name, give them a tour around the room, and sit with the guests.

Attendance: greet kids at the door during arrival, identify a first-time guest and call a welcome team volunteer to pair up with the new kid, check kids’ names on the list, and write down the first and last names of kids who are not on the list.

Teacher Assistant: assist the teacher/group leader in passing out snacks and water, organizing the chairs inside the walk-in closet, encouraging and leading other kids during clean-up, and putting toys away.

Token Store Cashier (during the KG! hour): assist students in selecting prizes from token store, organize prizes in the store, receive payment of tokens once a purchase is selected, document remaining balance of tokens on each student’s account once a purchase is made.

Kids Lead Training
A short training will take place in August, following a Sunday morning worship service. The exact date is yet to be confirmed. In this training, kids will receive an overview of the program and learn the essential duties of each position/assignment. We will also meet with the team either before or after kids worship periodically throughout the year to review the assignments and allow students to provide feedback about the experience.

Weekly Schedule
Every week we send out an email to parents with the children’s assignments of the week, lines, songs, and other important information. Children are encouraged to be on time to assume their positions on the days they will be serving and practice their lines and the song's hand motions at home. Occasionally a student is not able to attend Kid’s Worship on a day they are scheduled to serve. When this occurs, the other members of the team will be encouraged to fill-in for the missing student so that all roles are covered.
